Friday Night Fun...

Sat Nov 21, 2009, 12:44 AM
  • Mood: Horror
  • Reading: The Stand by Stephen King
It was Friday night, the kids were fast asleep, my partner and I were laying in bed.

I heard yelling and screaming outside. My first thought is that it was drunk teenagers partying too hard at the nearby playground. This happens almost every weekend and we have previously been victim to dick head vandals damaging our fence. I opened the front door to have a look and to tell them to piss off. As soon as I did, a large silhouette of a man ran straight for me, clawing at the fly-screen swearing and begging me to let him in. Scared for my family I locked the door and my partner called the police.

Meanwhile the man continued to bang and kick at the door screaming "HELP ME!" over and over again. My partner was visibly shaking while she was on the phone to the police. They told us not to let anyone enter the house.

It is then we heard hysterical female voices shouting "OH MY GOD! HE'S DEAD, HE'S DEAD!", referring to another man laying unconscious on the road. My partner and I called for an ambulance... twice ("There is already an ambulance at the premises." Where is this fucking invisible ambulance?) Too scared to open the door, I looked through the peep-hole, all I could see was a pair of legs twitching while the man continued to bang his head and arms against our front door. We told them there is an ambulance on its way and we learned he had been attacked by a gang with bricks, glass bottles and a cricket bat. His head was split open, He had internal bleeding, and coughing up blood. His friends were trying to keep him awake, slapping him and telling him he needs to be there for his daughter.

The police soon arrived to help out but the ambulance was still nowhere to be seen. After what seemed like an hour the ambulance finally arrived and the paramedic said "Nobody told us about it" (What kind off fucking system are they running here anyway?) We opened the front door so the paramedics had better access to the injured man. There was blood and vomit everywhere. Bloody fingerprints all up the door from when he was clawing at it. Our welcome mat lay there soaked in blood and irony. It wasn't until the paramedics tried sedating the man while he thrashed around screaming that my son woke up crying. He is taken to hospital but the police, witnesses and victims were in out front garden for most of the night.

Our front yard was now part of a crime scene, complete with police tape. Our street was taped off for most of the day while forensics were doing there thing. One of the cops guarding the tape asked if he could use our toilet and asked "Did you hear all the curfuffle last night?" (What the fuck? Didn't he realize there was a man bleeding to death at our front door?)

Anyway, Once the forensics had finished bagging and tagging I hosed down our front step the best I could... There are still quite a few blood stains.

Here's a news article about the incident, Then man at my front door is the "26-year-old who was looking for help."

MAN SUFFERS CARDIAC ARREST IN ARMADALE BRAWL

FLIP PRIOR, The West Australian
November 21, 2009, 10:21 am

A man was left fighting for his life after he was bashed so violently that his heart stopped beating during a brawl near a train station in Armadale overnight.

Police Sgt Graham Clifford said the fight was sparked when two females in a vehicle began arguing with a man near the Sherwood Train Station about 1.30am and he retaliated by throwing rocks at their car.

The women drove off after the car’s side window was smashed and went home.

Their two friends, a 21-year-old man and 26-year-old man, then returned to the scene and a fight involving up to 15 people brandishing broken bottles and star pickets then erupted on Stott Close.

During the brawl, the 21-year-old was hit was a heavy object and went into cardiac arrest. Residents called police, who arrived and found the unconscious man left alone on the ground.

Officers performed CPR on him and revived him before St Johns paramedics arrived to take over. The man was taken to Armadale-Kelmscott Hospital early this morning for emergency treatment and the extent of his injuries is not yet known.

The other man, who received bruising and facial lacerations, was found nearby and told police he had gone to find help. He was treated in hospital and later released.

Police cordoned off the street yesterday as they combed it for clues to what had occurred.

Stott Close resident Mal O’Keefe, a father-of-four, said he had heard yelling and screaming up and down his street and adjoining roads for several hours before the brawl erupted last night.

He said he phoned police several times throughout the evening and they had attended, but when they arrived the groups would disperse and hide.

“There were people running up and down the street … it just kept on going off and on,” Mr O’Keefe said.

“ People were drunk and yelling abuse to each other – the general bad conduct which happens around here all the time on a Friday night.”

Mr O’Keefe said people would often get off the train and start fighting and a serious incident had only been “a matter of time”.

“It’s been waiting to happen for ages … it’s not the sort of thing you need around your area,” he said.

Armadale Detective Troy Newington said the incident was “very serious” and appealed to anyone who was involved in or witnessed it to phone Crime Stoppers.

“It is of concern to police and the community that people are resorting to this type of violence and behavior,” he said. [link]
